How to Make A Butterfly Bath

Time to pull out your creative side with your own Butterfly Bath! I tried mine this spring and it has to be one of the main focal points in our flower bed!

The water bath is an excellent way to attract butterflies to your garden while simultaneously providing them with much needed water during the hot summer days!

Just follow these simple steps in creating your very own Butterfly Water Bath!

Supplies

For my Butterfly bath, I used…

Step 1

First, I started out by leveling my birdbath with the dirt and mulch. I’m pretty sure I stuck a few rocks underneath to do so. No need to clean the bird bath since we will be putting dirt in it anyhow!

Step 2

Next, Flip your medium sized terra cotta pot upside down and place it in the middle of the bird bath. This will create a nice steady base for your bath.

Step 3

Place your terra cotta plate on top of your upside-down pot. And fill in with your decorative glass stones. I chose a colorful mix to help draw in the butterflies. Plus, add more color to the garden!

Step 4

GET DIRTY! Now time to fill in around the terra cotta pot with your miracle grow potting soil! Just enough so your succulents have something to grab onto.

Step 5

Add in your flower of choice! I chose to use succulents! You can use anything, although you may want to use any annual being there isn’t much room for root growth. I chose succulents knowing they can thrive pretty well with little to no dirt.

Step 6

Lastly! Add water! Fill the water up to the edge of the terra cotta plate! I have to fill mine often. Being it is in a very sunny spot; the water will evaporate quickly from being in a shallow plate.

Tada! You are done! Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Enjoy your new creative masterpiece! But mostly! Enjoy the butterflies! You can also add fruit slices by laying them on top of the stones! Butterflies LOVE fruit!
