About Me

Hello to all! Welcome! My name is Tina.

I am a single divorced mother of two beautiful children. My daughter Evelyn who is 12 and my son Graeson who is 8. They are the loves of my life and my true reason for living.

I grew up in a small town in Eastern Pennsylvania. No, not where Dracula is from. But a nice little area outside of Philadelphia, PA, USA.  Been here all my life and wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Growing Up

Grew up on a farm owned by my grandparents and I am extremely proud of where my family comes from. I grew up with knowledge not many children today will understand. Heck, not many adults understand that life either. Even though our family farm sort of retired when I was young. We used to have a working dairy farm but had to sell all the cows. So since then its been more chickens and ducks then anything. Currently we have alpacas. So…FLUFFY!

We are a do-it-yourself kind of family and that’s just how we were raised. Learn how to do things yourself and make it for yourself. Have pride in it.

TOMATO PLANTS GROWING ON TOMATO CAGES

My mother always loved to do garden work as well as my father. My parents would always have their own garden for vegetables and my mom would have every flower bed filled with gorgeous flowers. I have learned a lot from my parents and kind of fell in love with the aspect of gardening myself.

Of course growing up as a teenager you never wanted to help out. Although I had this one flower bed that was outside my window that I always took care of, but never liked the idea of helping with anything else. But now that I’m an adult and in my 30s. I have learned the importance of growing your own food. The importance of having flowers for bees and butterflies to share.

Moving On

After my divorce I was in a very dark place, I was depressed. Hardcore depressed. I didn’t want to do anything, I moved back in with my parents. They helped me with my bills, cause the job I had didn’t pay much. I had no idea how reliant I was on my ex-husband and his family (we lived with his family) until our split. It took me over a year to really get out of this funk.

What really helped me was being able to work in the garden. Getting my frustrations out when I would dig up dirt and pull out all the weeds. I would be in that garden every chance I got. It was therapeutic to me. Sitting there pulling out the weeds allowed my brain to process everything.

Not to mention you are creating beauty within this garden. The life you are creating. There would be days while working in the garden that I would just sit there in the grass just looking at everything. The life that literally flies by you whether it be the butterfly or bee. The caterpillar on the plant aside you. The spiders and ants that are most likely crawling over your legs. Its just absolutely beautiful. And I want to share that beauty with you.

My Mission

So you have this ideal image in your head of how you want things to look and be when it comes to your gardening area. But you dont know how to go about it or if you are even capable of doing it on your own. You dont want to hire a landscaper, causeā€¦

MY CHILDREN HELPING IN THE FLOWER BEDS

The more flowers you plant, the more pollen for the bees. Depending on the flowers you plant, birds have seed to eat. Did you plant carrots? Be sure to plant extra for those bunnies and deer that will help themselves.

I love seeing all the wildlife that visits our garden and being able to teach my children about everything we do. Showing them the importance of learning to harvest your own food. And you will too!

My goal is to share my experiences with everyone. I want to show you how easy it is to take care of your own garden. How you can grow that tomato or broccoli plant. How easy it is to fill your freezer for winter. And prove that you yourself can do anything you set your mind too.  And you too can Own That Garden Life.
